“The Sewing Ladies”
When the hospital was first built in 1911, the Lady Board of Managers supervised the hospital operations. Over the years, the role of the Lady Board of Managers has evolved. Today, this group supports the hospital and community by volunteering their time and talents in both the mending and making of new articles for the hospital.
Tuesday morning is Sewing Day. Ladies from the city and the twelve townships gather to assist the hospital. The workforce can vary from three to six ladies. The ladies are always eager to work on any project.
The Sewing Ladies volunteer over 950 hours making over 2,000 new and mended items, annually.
